Skillup Japan is looking for a Research Expert (Post-Doctoral Fellow) in areas related to video coding technologies for efficient distribution over the Internet to join our research and development team. The candidate should be self-motivated and a quick learner with strong analytical and programming skills. He/she should also have excellent written and oral communication skills in order to interact with the rest of the group and make presentations for both technical and non-technical people.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate systems, codecs and algorithms for efficient and scalable media delivery, real time and on demand, over the Internet using P2P concepts.
• Engage in research related to scalable video encoding techniques specifically H.264/SVC for distribution over the Internet.
• Generate and present papers on recognized conferences and journals in the field.
• Learn and apply evolving media coding technologies and standards.

Skill Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in research and development.
• Extremely familiar with MPEG-4 Advanced Video Codec (H.264/AVC) and related standards.
• Experience with the scalable extension (H.264/SVC) is preferred.
• Experience implementing video coding standards (ISO/IEC, ITU-T) and applications (i.e. H.264/AVC).
• Experience implementing video streaming standards and application (i.e. RTP/RCTP/RSTP).
• Experience with evolving open standards for multimedia coding and transport such as IETF RFCs, ISO/IEC, ITU-T, and TMF NGOSS.
• Ability to learn new technologies and lead/mentor development teams.
• Excellent writing and presentation skills.
• Fluent in English, Japanese preferred but not required.
