Skillup Japan is looking for a Research Expert (Post-Doctoral Fellow) in areas related to media delivery networks and applications to join our research and development team. The candidate should be self-motivated and a quick learner with strong analytical and programming skills. He/she should also have excellent written and oral communication skills in order to interact with the rest of the group and make presentations for both technical and non-technical people.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate systems, protocols and algorithms for efficient and scalable media delivery, real time and on demand, over the Internet following innovative network-topology approaches such as application-level multicast or P2P while considering Digital Right Management aspects.
• Engage in research related to new transport and network protocols (DCCP, SCTP and IPv6) and their applications for digital media multicast/broadcast over the Internet.
• Generate and present technical documentation including white papers, technical reports, journal and conference papers as well as presentations at both technical and non-technical level.
• Learn and apply evolving networking technologies and standards.

Skill Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in research and development (including Ph.D. course)
• Extremely familiar with network and transport technologies (IPv4, IPv6, TCP, UDP, DCCP, SCTP) at all levels of implementation, application, and operating systems.
• Experience evaluating new network protocols via simulation/testbeds.
• Experience programming network stacks at kernel level in Windows and/or Linux/BSD is a bonus.
• Experience with evolving open standards for networking and network management such as IETF RFCs, ISO, ITU, and TMF NGOSS.
• Ability to learn new technologies and lead/mentor development teams
• Excellent writing and presentation skills
• Fluent in English, good Japanese preferred but not strictly required.
